Dr. Amanda Helman’s Story
Amanda Helman, Ph.D. is an international speaker in the field of education, mental health, and leadership. Her passion is to empower women, men, and teens to nagivate affect in order to release their cognitive skills in healthy ways in business, relationships, and vision for the future.
She is currently the author of I Am Worthy, Valued, and Loved, a children’s book that empowers children to know they are valuable even when they make mistakes. This book has reviews by children and incorporates activities throughout and following the book reading. She is also the author of another book set to be published in summer 2021 called Silent No Longer: Finding My Voice After Complex Trauma that shares her personal stories of navigating complex trauma, limiting beliefs, and how to deeply heal following painful life events.
As a Cognitive Releasetm Coach, Amanda works with 1:1 coaching and small group coaching that provides both quality content about areas of executive functioning skills, enhancing and releasing cognitive skills for strategy development, shifting generational patterns, reframing healthy communication, identifying self-care principles, using life mapping to create career and life goals and plans, and establishing balance in professional and personal life.
Amanda founded Healthy Roots LLC that centers on providing helpful tools and techniques to cultivate healthy family connections to impact communities. She is the founder of the annual Healthy Family Connections International Summit. This summit empowers families and community members to effectively communicate with each other.
She writes blogs on her Healthy Roots website that provide practical information in the following areas: building healthy family connections, overcoming childhood trauma, supporting children and youth who experienced sexual trauma, and how to support the mental health of children, youth, men, and women.
Amanda also has 22 years of experience working with students with and without disabilities. Currently, Amanda is an adjunct professor at Lehigh University teaching coursework in special education to graduate students. She is also an education consultant in the areas of academic interventions, behavior, inclusive practices, trauma, and works with teams to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Amanda has published peer-reviewed articles in the area of reading interventions and has presented at several national and international conferences about empowering students with ASD amongst other disabilities in the area of postsecondary education, student-led IEPs, inclusive practices, vocabulary development, and curriculum development.
