Goal Setting Made Simple

Published by Amanda Lynn Helman on

Do you ever set goals that seem impossible to reach?

Look no further. Goal setting is really goal-directed persistence. This means setting a goal into simple steps to meet it over time.

3 Keys to Settings Goals

  1. Goals must be achievable. For example, if you set a goal to write 5 hours a day and you are beginning at 0 minutes, the goal is way too high. If you are at 0 minutes, set the goal for 10 minutes a day and then gradually build it up from there.
  2. Goals must be practical. Let’s keep on the writing 5 hours a day goal. If you are wanting to write 5 hours daily and began with 0 minutes per day, this is not as practical for you to achieve. Perhaps, begin with writing 3 times a week for 10 minutes. That’s a keeper.
  3. Goals must be observable. In the first example, writing was the key action. This is something you can observe. That’s good. You want words that are verbs and action words. For example, thinking would not be something that we can see, hear, or measure. Although you do think all the time we can’t see it.

Goal setting is a key to moving forward in different life areas. It is possible for you to set small achievable goals and complete it.

The best part about goal-setting? You can change the goal each week to make sure it works for you and it leads to success!
